Myo-Fascial Release + Yin Yoga Workshop

Release pain and tension in the muscles + connective tissues. Feel the knots + crunchy spots disappear - create space in your body to move completely freely and with ease. We'll use this self massage method working with cork balls and yoga blocks to open up + release the body. To begin we’ll work head to toe learning each technique(bring your notebook!)then you’ll be guided through a yin yoga and myo-fascial release practice to work deeply into the body and feel the full benefits. A full body self massage.

You will leave feeling 2 feet taller and free of niggles and stickiness. It’s equal parts activating and relaxing.

What is myo-fascial release?
Myofascial release therapy is a type of gentle massage that releases tightness and pain throughout your myofascial tissues. Myo = muscles, fascia = connective web running through and protecting the muscles, organs, veins, even cells. First, you will locate trigger points, or knots, in your fascial tissues. Then, they’ll gently apply pressure until they feel the tension release. It feels invigorating.

Expect to roll, release, work deep into the tissues, melt away the creases leaving for feeling freer and able to move.

Benefits of Myofascial Release:
Relieves pain and tension, increases mobility, improves posture, helps release emotions stuck in the body, improves blood circulation, improves lymphatic circulation - in turn supporting the immune system, leaves you feeling soft and easeful in the body.

More on fascia:
You can think of fascia like a spider web. The stringy tissue is densely woven throughout your muscles, bones, nerves, arteries, veins and organs. Your fascia is one continuous structure throughout your body. Each part of your body is connected to it in some way. That’s why if there’s a snag in the tissue in one part of your body, it can cause pain in another part of your body.

Normally, fascia is flexible and stretchy. But it’s strong. It provides structural support to your body and protects your muscles. Fascia is usually able to move without any restrictions. When your body experiences any kind of trauma, your fascia loses its flexibility. It becomes tightened and more rigid. The tightness can lead to pain and loss of motion, which can affect your quality of life.

Please wear leggings instead of baggy/flowy clothes and bring along a notebook + pen.
